I think its fair to say that of all the myriad of different shapes and sizes of practice roles out there, in-house roles remain the most sought after roles in the world of Indirect Tax. Commercial roles can normally guarantee a sizeable shortlist of interested parties, particularly roles at the Manager level upwards.
Time and time again, this humble recruitment consultant hears the words 'I'm not interested in a move to another firm – I really want to use my skills in a commercial role'. When at least 75% of the organisations recruiting at present are consultancy options, how can firms redress the balance and seek to attract disaffected VAT consultants to their doors? And what's so special about in-house anyway, when the perception sometimes can be that such roles have a 'shelf-life'?
Do tell all – the Indirect Tax Blog is waiting for your thoughts, and remember – a BLT hamper to the best blogger!
Best regards
