At the same time as Beckham is crossing oceans as well as footballs, just how easy is it for Indirect Tax professionals? to make that move to a different country?
Over recent years, we have seen a veritable volley of requests from those operating in Indirect Tax in various jurisdictions elsewhere around the globe to move to the UK. Unfortunately for them, such requests have disappointingly fallen on deaf ears in the main.
Those looking to relocate from their current country have normally readily been ‘placeable’ elsewhere round the globe (i.e. in Central/Eastern Europe, the States, Australia, Far East for example) but the UK remains doggedly reluctant. Surprising perhaps when firms are crying out for additional staff!
I’d be really interested to hear people’s thoughts on this – whether you have views on why the UK market is missing out by not considering those operating in different jurisdictions, or whether you think the transition/learning curve is just too much to digest for those recruiting in the UK – the newly established BLT Indirect Tax blog is an open goal just waiting for your thoughts!
Best regards
